# LVM

Tips for LVM

# Install pv

*pv* needs the universe repository enabled on Ubuntu before it can be installed.

```bash
sudo add-apt-repository universe
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pv
```

# Copy

Use pv to copy disks and/or individual partitions with a progress indicator. No intermediate image is needed.

```bash
# Basic Command
pv < source > dest
# Copy Disk (All Partitions)
pv < /dev/sda > /dev/sdb
# Copy Partition
pv < /dev/sda1 > /dev/sdb2
```
